A Simple Note Bring Humanity To World

In the News, Internet Tools, Networking, Sandy Morgan

Hearing that former President  Clinton flew into North Korea to meet with Kim Jong-il, I was was a bit  surprised. I wondered how that became possible. I got my answer today in an e-mail from Phillip Hulme, one of our card distributors:

Dee Dee Myers, press secretary under former President Bill Clinton, was interviewed this week. One of the questions was why Clinton was chosen to go on the mission to negotiate for the the release of the 2 American journalists, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, who entered North Korean territory and had been held captive for 5 months.

It turns out that Bill Clinton had emerged as the top choice of the North Koreans because, when he was president, Clinton had sent Kim Jong-il a letter of condolence on the death of his father, Kim Il-sung, in 1994.
Apparently, Kim Jong-il felt that freeing the women was a “reciprocal humanitarian gesture” that he would agree to, since Bill Clinton had shown him such respect when his father died, even though there were no official diplomatic relations between the US and North Korea.

How amazing that a simple letter of condolence written 15 years ago would have that impact.

I think it this is very powerful message. If we would all just sit and think about this for a few minutes: what more could we do in our daily lives to be human with each other? What effects would that make for us today and in the years ahead? Could a thawing of diplomacy between the U.S. and North Korea have started because of a condolence letter? What simple actions can we take to do something similar to that simple act of humanity with our friends, coworkers, clients, and competitors?

It’s definitely something worthwhile to think about, isn’t it?

Spring Brings Fresh Starts & Another Holiday ~ Jan Snook

Comments, Inspirational Stories, Internet Tools, Jan Snook

Spring came in like a lion this year for a majority of us in the USA. Guess Mother Nature didn’t think we  are ready for Daffodils just yet. Do we need to reflect a bit more on where we are as individuals and where we want to be?

One of our colleagues, Meghan Joy was just voted off American Idol this week. Simon told her it was because she had commented that she didn’t care. Sandy thinks Meghan cared a lot; a lot about her style of singing. Perhaps Meghan discovered that she wanted to sing her songs, her way. If that meant leaving Idol, so be it.

We do know that the freshness of another season is on it’s way. Are we ready to take a  look at our lives and evaluate whether we need to take a fresh start or a slight detour?

That can begin by reaching out to others. Easter is just a week away! Did you send out those cards yet or did you forget to buy them? We have your answer right here! No need to go to the store now. Just click on  http://greetingcardschangelives.com

Testimony from Harvey MacKay

Business Building, Internet Tools, Marketing tips, Networking, Sending Cards

“Short handwritten cards yield long results. In sales, never underestimate the importance of the personal gesture, and right at the top of the list of effective personal gestures sits the handwritten card. Always send memorable cards and personal notes when you are reminded of a person.”
