A Time of Giving

We are in the Giving season of the year for all people. While sending the last of my Holiday cards,  I reflected on the Principle of Giving.

The Principle of Giving says that every thing that you give out will come back to you 10 fold. By giving with a open heart, not expecting anything in return, amazing things will start happening to you.  This is a Law of the Universe. Chills are going up and down my spine as I write these words!

Just imagine for a moment…. Little things like a smile, a  hug that says “I love you” or  a “thank you” to say “I appreciate you”. These gestures come from your heart, which is TRUE giving!

So celebrate this Season with a real Spirit of Giving , even though times may be trying and you may not  be able to give as in the past. May the Love, Blessing and Joy take hold of you in this Season of Giving, carrying you into the New Year~!

I am embracing 2010 with  a renewed gusto!

A Simple Note Bring Humanity To World

Hearing that former President  Clinton flew into North Korea to meet with Kim Jong-il, I was was a bit  surprised. I wondered how that became possible. I got my answer today in an e-mail from Phillip Hulme, one of our card distributors:

Dee Dee Myers, press secretary under former President Bill Clinton, was interviewed this week. One of the questions was why Clinton was chosen to go on the mission to negotiate for the the release of the 2 American journalists, Laura Ling and Euna Lee, who entered North Korean territory and had been held captive for 5 months.

It turns out that Bill Clinton had emerged as the top choice of the North Koreans because, when he was president, Clinton had sent Kim Jong-il a letter of condolence on the death of his father, Kim Il-sung, in 1994.
Apparently, Kim Jong-il felt that freeing the women was a “reciprocal humanitarian gesture” that he would agree to, since Bill Clinton had shown him such respect when his father died, even though there were no official diplomatic relations between the US and North Korea.

How amazing that a simple letter of condolence written 15 years ago would have that impact.

I think it this is very powerful message. If we would all just sit and think about this for a few minutes: what more could we do in our daily lives to be human with each other? What effects would that make for us today and in the years ahead? Could a thawing of diplomacy between the U.S. and North Korea have started because of a condolence letter? What simple actions can we take to do something similar to that simple act of humanity with our friends, coworkers, clients, and competitors?

It’s definitely something worthwhile to think about, isn’t it?

Spring Brings Fresh Starts & Another Holiday ~ Jan Snook

Spring came in like a lion this year for a majority of us in the USA. Guess Mother Nature didn’t think we  are ready for Daffodils just yet. Do we need to reflect a bit more on where we are as individuals and where we want to be?

One of our colleagues, Meghan Joy was just voted off American Idol this week. Simon told her it was because she had commented that she didn’t care. Sandy thinks Meghan cared a lot; a lot about her style of singing. Perhaps Meghan discovered that she wanted to sing her songs, her way. If that meant leaving Idol, so be it.

 

We do know that the freshness of another season is on it’s way. Are we ready to take a  look at our lives and evaluate whether we need to take a fresh start or a slight detour?

Picture Albums & Greeting Cards ~ Sandy Morgan

I  got this question from a new customer and thought I’d share it with you:

I wanted ask you a question about the cards. Are they all blank cards inside? I’m not a great inspirational writer and I thought the cards that (are ready-made) also have notes inside the cards as well as outside like normal cards you would get from stores.

I answered with this:

When I joined, I always searched for the cards that had sayings too, but as time went by, I discovered that the saying in the card wasn’t as important as the fact that I took the time to send the card! I found that just by saying something like, “I was thinking of you today…” meant more than the greatest card poet to my friends or family because it was sent from my heart.

Maya Angelou once said, “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel”.

I’ve found this statement to be so true in the time I’ve been sending cards. People email, call and will even respond with  a  card of their own! Cards really do touch lives ~ we can touch them, feel them, pin them up on the wall and/or keep them forever in an album.

Remember feelings that come over us when looking through old photo albums, scrapbooks and yearbooks? Memories come flooding back, filling us with emotions…. We laugh and sometimes cry.  We own these feeling, which help us get in touch with who we are today.

Touch a life!

It’s February; Is Love In The Air? ~Sandy Morgan

February is known for Valentines Day! It’s the day we all, especially us females, expect flowers, candy and cards. So, come on guys, step up to the plate! You don’t even have to go to the store. Just point your Browser to www.greetingcardschangelives.com or www.jansfreecard4u.com, click the banner and follow the instructions to send a no cost card to that favorite person in your life! A word of caution though, don’t mention the card didn’t cost you a cent. The hearts sparkling in the recipient eyes may turn to daggers!

We women are not immune from this gesture. Those favorite men in our life need to feel appreciated just as much as we do, maybe more. So, take the same advice and send a card, too!

“Success From Home” Inspired Me to Keep Sending Cards! ~ Jan Snook

For several weeks the October’s issue of Success from Home has been on your local magazine racks in bookstores and other popular places.  The entire issue featured Send Out Cards throughout the magazine.

This magazine shows so many good points of the ways of sending an unexpected card, just as we have done with our Blog.  What excites me the most was when I read the articles from Joel Osteen, well-known minister seen on television, as well as Jack Canfield, well-known author for the numerous books of the “Chicken Soup for the Soul”.

Both Mr. Osteen and Mr. Canfield continue to touch so many people, as well as for me with their books!  So to see their testimony in this Magazine only makes me that more determine to reach others with greeting cards.

Joel Osteen writes how important it is to encourage others, and to make a difference for them.  While we may not realize, there is always someone who needs some kind of encouragement; whether it is a kind word; a silly card to make someone laugh; or a important statement to encourage someone experiencing a serious illness.

I like the statement I read from Mr. Osteen in his article.  He gave an example of a teacher doing an exercise in her class: It showed her students that… “If you want your life to get better then you need to improve someone else’s life.”  The students understood the lesson of how important it is to show people that we all care for each other!  This is exactly what we try to relay to others to feel when we send an unexpected card!

If you happen to get this magazine, you were able to read the article from Jack Canfield.  He had very good points to motivate employees at work.  Among the top suggestions was “Appreciation”!  Again, this ties right in with what Sandy and I are striving for. We truly believe greeting cards have delivered this to those we write to…  We know our independence has continued with so much encouragement for others that know us!  We are so grateful for the ongoing support.

Success From Home featured stories from friends and fellow Team Members…  Each article is very interesting!  So, if you can, get a copy or let me know you want one, and I’ll send you one!

Writing is a huge asset we both share.  We rely on each other for support and advice.  Feedback is another topic Mr. Canfield talks about.  Sandy will agree we depend so much on the feedback we receive from one another, as well as when we receive a call or an email from someone who has received a card from us.

Just a couple days ago I received a phone call from my friend, Jamie. A few weeks ago she had told me she became “Great Auntie” again!  Jamie was so proud of this new little Bundle of Joy!  So I asked her to send me a photo via email.  To surprise her, I created a Picture Plus Postcard, and sent it to her.  Jamie was so thrilled when it arrived in her mailbox!  She called that same night to thank me.  I just wanted to make her day and give her an unexpected surprise!
